José B. Alvarez
José B. Alvarez is a clinical professor of business administration at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He was also a senior lecturer at Harvard Business School, where he has served on the faculty from 2009 to 2023. José has conducted research and taught courses in food systems, board governance, and retailing. He has coauthored more than 30 case studies. Prior to his academic career, he spent nearly 20 years in the supermarket industry, culminating in his tenure as president and chief executive officer of Stop & Shop/Giant-Landover. He currently serves on the boards of numerous corporate, nonprofit, and educational organizations, including The TJX Companies, AM Fresh, The Joyce Foundation, and Princeton University. José is married with three children.
