November 3-6, African American stringband Carolina Chocolate Drops will take the stage at Old Town School of Folk Music with their original vaudeville performance, "Keep a Song in Your Soul: The Black Roots of Vaudeville."
The Grammy Award winning band and Old Town received a 2010 Joyce Award for Music to support the creation of "Keep a Song in Your Soul," which is inspired by the African American roots of vaudeville. The Carolina Chocolate Drops developed the music to create an evening-length performance featuring two Chicago-based perfomers, jazz tap virtuoso Reggio “The Hoofer” McLaughlin and ragtime pianist Reginald Robinson.
There will be an question and answer forum with the cast immediately following each performance with a different guest moderator each night.
