Chicago Children's Museum
Juan Angel Chávez received a Joyce Award, with Chicago Children's Museum to create a large scale public art installation spanning the museum's second floor walls and ceiling. Schoolchildren and museum guests will inform the content of Chávez's piece, which will continue to evolve over time with audience input. The piece will be installed in the summer of 2017.
Juan Angel Chávez is a Mexican born Chicago based artist who is best known for interactive, larger than life sculptures of found materials. His most prominent public works are found in the City of Chicago public art collection, including installations at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Morton Arboretum and in libraries and CTA stations. In addition, his work has been exhibited through the United States, Mexico, Denmark, Europe, Thailand, and New Zealand.
