Ending Gun Violence in Chicago: Connecting Policy, Practice, and Community

Share

The Joyce Foundation is hosting a three-part series, Ending Gun Violence in Chicago: Connecting Policy, Practice, and Community, to reframe the discussion around gun violence prevention and public safety by examining comprehensive solutions, from constitutional policing practices to gun policies, the deployment and utilization of alternative responsive models and proven violence intervention and prevention strategies, among other evidence-informed tactics. The series aims to produce a comprehensive white paper for regional policymakers, positioning gun policy as central to public safety debates.

The series is starting on Thurs., July 25 with Reducing Gun Violence: The Ecosystem of Public Safety, 4-6 p.m. at Homan Square Tower Building, 905 S. Homan Square, Chicago. The forum will bring together community advocates, business leaders and policymakers to discuss a range of actionable solutions available and necessary to effectively address one of Chicago’s most tragic and intractable problems. The first forum is being held in partnership with BlackRoots Alliance, The City Club of Chicago and WTTW’s Firsthandinitiative & WTTW NEWS.
