Sabrina L. Miller
Sabrina L. Miller (she/her) is the Joyce Foundation’s Senior Communications Officer, where she leads the Foundation’s comprehensive external communications and media engagement, and manages the Foundation's social media content and strategy, amplifying the critical work of grantee partners throughout the Great Lakes region. A gifted storyteller, strategist and connector, Sabrina brings more than 25 years of experience as a communications professional to Joyce, most recently as the head of South Loop Media, LLC., her own media management and consulting firm where she managed a national roster of philanthropy, nonprofit, and public affairs campaigns and clients that included the MacArthur Foundation, University of Chicago Office of Civic Engagement, Chicago Community Trust, Field Foundation of Illinois, and the Joyce Foundation, among others. Sabrina previously led communications for several State of Illinois agencies and initiatives under Gov. Pat Quinn, including the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, Illinois Department of Public Health, and the state's “Get Covered Illinois” health insurance marketplace.
As an award-winning journalist, Sabrina worked as a staff writer for the Tampa Bay Times, The Miami Herald, and the Chicago Tribune, where she was the first staffer selected for the prestigious Pew Fellowship in International Journalism, completing a reporting project on South Africa’s juvenile justice system.
She is a Chicago native, proud south sider, and graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has also been a journalism adjunct at Columbia College of Chicago. Sabrina is a former triathlete and competitive swimmer who also deeply enjoys live theater and concerts and is a trivia buff and aspiring Jeopardy! contestant.
